What is a glass fitting and what is it used for?
The glass fitting is attached to the edge of the door to accommodate other parts of the clamp. Glass fittings are primarily made of metal and come in two halves. During installation, the door leaf is placed between them, after which the screws tighten the door clamps, securing them to the door leaf and allowing the installation of other components.
How to adjust a glass fitting in a bathroom if the door has moved?
First of all, please note that adjusting a solid glass door should not be done by one person, as the glass door is very heavy and could cause injury. (If your bathroom door is made of a different material, these instructions only apply to a glass door with a glass fitting.)
1.The glass door to the bathroom is skewed and not perpendicular to the floor.
A. In most cases, this is caused by damage to the internal structure of the glass fitting or the fitting being attached to the wall being out of position.
B. First loosen all glass fitting screws. If loose screws are found, adjust the fitting position and then tighten the screws.
C. If all screws show no signs of loosening, the internal spring structure of the glass fitting may be damaged, in which case the fitting will need to be replaced. (Chance is low, but possible if welding is done inside the fitting.)
2.The glass door to the bathroom has shifted, but is still perpendicular to the floor.
A. In most cases, this is caused by the aging of the gasket between the glass fitting and the glass, or by the fitting becoming misaligned when attached to the wall.
B. If the gasket is found to be aging, it must be replaced.
How to install glass door clips?
Positioning and marking
For a combination glass door consisting of a fixed glass and a moving glass sash, perform a single alignment and positioning. According to the design and construction drawings, draw the glass door positioning lines while determining the position of the door frame.
Installing the upper limit groove of the box
The width of the limiting groove should be two to four millimeters greater than the thickness of the glass, and the depth of the groove should be ten to twenty millimeters. When installing, first draw a line on the edge of the two metal decorative panels, then install the upper limit groove of the door frame along this line. Adjust the depth of the groove using the glued backing plate.
Installing the bottom bracket of the metal decorative panel
Secure the square beam to the floor and glue the metal decorative panel to the beam using all-purpose adhesive. When using an aluminum square profile, you can secure it using an aluminum angle on the frame post or attach it with screws to a wooden embedded part recessed in the floor.
Installation of a vertical door frame
Nail a square beam along the center line, then use plywood to determine the shape and position of the door frame pillar and finally cover it with a metal decorative surface. When cladding, place the joints of decorative panels on both sides of the glass installation location in the door.
Glass installation
Using a glass vacuum grip, press the thick glass firmly and move it to the installation location. First, insert the top of the glass into the stop groove at the top of the door frame, then lower the bottom of the glass onto the bottom bracket.
Fixing glass
On the bottom bracket, on the inside and outside of the square beam, nail two small wooden blocks to hold the thick glass in the door. Apply all-purpose adhesive to the blocks and glue on the decorative metal trim.
Sealing with glass sealant
Apply glass sealant to the upper limit groove, on both sides of the lower groove, and also to the gaps between the thick glass and the frame posts and remove the excess using a tool.
Glass joining
If the fixed part of the glass door requires docking due to its large size, leave a gap of two to three millimeters wide, and the edges of the glass panels should be chamfered.
